Rain X windshield wax is a great product, easy to use and remove. It works great.

However, do not get any on your plastic paerts. I accidentalyspilled a few drops on my drivers side door mirror, where it hit is now white, Damn,

Any ideas how to fix?

Is your mirror jet black, or a kind of greyish /black colour? You could touch it up with black paint if it is black...

Have you tried using liquid dawn dishwashing detergent to remove the dried rain-x? Or try a degreasing agent such as Simple Green, or, AMSOIL Power Foam if the Simple Green won't do it. I would try that before I went ahead and re-painted the mirror casing.

You can re-paint the mirror assembly; I have done it, and it has held up quite well. It also looks very OEM--no one can tell they have been repainted. I used spray paint. If you have a glossy finish on it, you will need "gloss black". If you have a dull black finish, you will want "flat black".

I use Rain X as well. I haven't yet spilled any on the trim, but when I spill wax on the trim, I use Dawn or Joy dishwashing soap to take it off. Works pretty well, might be worth a shot.

The finish is marred, its not a matter of washing anything off.

Mabey try a light polishing compound and some armoral (sp?) trim detailing stuff?

Armor-all would only cover it up for awhile, maybe a day or two. I sanded mine until the white stuff is nolonger visible... big mistake. It has no white stuff on it but it has that dull look. I plan to paint it later... as soon as the gods of rain go bye bye.:(

Depending on how marred the mirror is, you will probably have to replace the mirror. There is nothing that will restore the mildly rough surface of the mirror plastic.
