Ok its a 89 with a 3.0
It has been starting fine. Went and got gas in it fri. drove it home and parked it.
Wife drove it to church today (Sun) and when she came out of Church it wouldn't start.
Had it towed home. Changed out the Igi Mod with a spare I had, still didn't start. Also Changed out the Ign. Coil. Still won't start.

Smell Gas, Has Spark out of coil, also out of Dist cap, Wires, & through the spark plugs.

It has spark but it doesn't fire or try to.

What am I missing???? The only thing I'm thinking is a dead spark plug or two but it should still fire up and run rough wouldn't it?

Thanks for any Help.

Since you smell gas, and you know for sure that all of the plugs are getting a sufficient spark, then it sounds like it's getting flooded. Check the fuel pressure with a gauge. If you stand in front of the vehicle, you will see the area to connect the gauge on the left side of the engine (fuel rail). How old are the plugs? Did you pull any of them out to see if they are fouled up? I know that the engine was pulled a while ago.

OK here's the lasted scoop...........

Sunday night: Changed the TFI Module.....No Change.
I I also changed the coil because my brother had a ford truck with the same problem as mine. Fire going through the plugs & gas getting to them. But it wouldn't try to start.
A mechanic friend told him to change the coil because sometimes a coil will check out fine but Will Not fire under compression.
Well he changed it and it fired right up. Put the old one back on and it didn't start.

Mine wouldn't start Sunday night no matter how much I cranked it. It was to late to do anything else with it that night, so I went to bed and hoped the answer would come to me in a dream.

Monday......Came in and read the replies, grabbed my WD-40 and went out to the van.
Before I tried spraying anything in the Throttle, I got in the van. Turned the key. Started right up.......Runs great, smooth, without a miss.

Let it run. stopped it and started it up 6-7 times no problem. Now I don't know if should trust it now. I did have complete trust in it.

The wife described what happened yesterday & it sounds to Me like it tried to start but, was shaking and missing. She said it died and the CEL light came on. When she tried to start it again it just turned over but didn't fire.

So all I can think is it really flooded it's self, or The coil went bad at that time and caused it to flood. So I guess letting it set over night unflooded it and it started right up.

Today is Tuesday and every time I go out to start it it starts & runs great.

So I guess I'll just drive and see if I have any more problems.

If you have anymore Ideas let me know.

Thanks,
JaY

Check the fuel pressure to see if the regulator is bad. Unplug the vacuum line to see if gasoline is in there. It could have a bad diaphragm. The other 2 things that could cause it to flood would be the ECT & ACT sensors. Their reading varies with temperature, so it might get thrown off with a temperature change.

OK.........

Van has been starting up every time and is running great.
Haven't drove it anywhere yet though.

Anyway went out and pulled the OBD I codes & here is what flashed.....

11, 11, 11, - System Pass

41 - HO2S circuit indicates system lean (right HO2S).
OR No HO2S switch detected (right HO2S).

95 - Fuel pump secondary circuit failure.

Got these codes from "OBDI Code Retrieval Procedure" link from 93highthawk.

So what am I looking at. Like I said everything seems to be running fine now.

Thanks,
JaY

It sounds like it could be the fuel pump relay. You have 4 relays next to the battery on the driver's side under a black plastic cover. The relay might be hard to pull out, but don't worry about cracking the tabs on it. It sounded like a fuel related problem, and not an ignition related problems when you first described it. What kind of code reader do you have? I don't think it could be the computer relay since there were stored codes.

The Thing has been Starting everytime I go out and turn it over. The Wife took it to the Store Last night and She said it worked just fine.
It runs smooth and Idols smooth. I did pull a few of the plugs & they are Nice light Brown. They're burning Perfect.
I think it was either the TFI or Coil was going/went bad when She tried to Start it up.
And I think I had it so flooded that that was the reason why it wouldn't start that evening.
