The RSXs I received are shorter in overall extended length by 1.5 inches (24" vs 25.5" stock) than the factory shocks. I don't recommend buying them if your Explorer is anything other than completely stock. These are going back today! I was told by the rep that sold them to me that they would at least match the stock length. It sounds like the Edelbrocks (or?) at 27" are the better way to go.

Whats the deal with these shocks/ I just Got mine P/N 17018 & 17021. Are these wrong or too short? I have a 98 Sport 4X4 with the Warrior/Twist lift. Will they be too short for the extra couple of inches?

I wonder if they would be too short for a '93 also, because i was considering buying some of these.

What about this? I was going to buy RSX shocks for my Explorer this week, and then I read this. Are the front or rear ones the short ones? What does that e-mail says?

Mando,
When I called 4Wheel Parts Wholesalers, for information I was told that the RSXs matched stock specs. When I received them (UPS) they were at least 1.5" shorter than the shocks that came on the vehicle. I called Rancho and they confirmed that I had in fact received the correct shocks, but that they were shorter than the original shocks. They will hurt your travel if you add any lift at all to your truck. I don't know about the earlier Explorers. The best thing would be to call Rancho and check the specifications. I will be returning mine this week.
It seems that the Edelbrocks are at least an inch longer in extension than stock. They are more expensive, but if you want this type of shock, they are the way to go until something better comes out.
