I got a complete set of 5000's for my 92 and just started putting them on today. The rears fit fine but the fronts wont slip over the stud on the radius arm. The boxes say rs5019 (which is correct for my model) but the shock itself says rs5029. I just emailed rancho about it, has anyone else had this problem??

Are the sleeves already installed on the shocks? That may be why they won't fit. The stud acts like the bushing so you won't need it. New bushings will be tight anyway. Eyeball it and if it's close use some WD40 or dish soap to help modivate the bushing to slide over the stud.

I'm trying to remember what the last two digits meant other than length. I know the first digit states the model and the second digit states the valving, 0 softer, 1 for firmer.

The metal sleeve is the problem. No way will the inside of the sleeve slip over the stud on the radius arm. Can i Just drive the sleeve out of the shock eylet and slip it over the stud? I know it would fit but i dont know about removing sleeves if sometimes thats what you have to do or if its just the wrong shock and if i screw it up i'll void the warrenty.

The sleeves are just for mounting. The stock radius arms have the 'sleeve' alread installed. Take a look at your stock shocks, they don't have a sleeve for that reason. Rancho was just nice to press in the sleeve for you because they can be a real pain sometimes.

Thats what i needed to know Thanks. Still dont know why RS5029 was stamped on them.

They might be slightly longer, just watch your up travel to see if they bottom out.

I'll try that tomm. Thanks man

I pressed the sleeves out of the shock eylets then found out the whole was smallar than the sleeves. I ended up having to press the whole rubber bushing out of my rancho and pressing back in the rubber bushing from my old shock. What a load of trouble from new Equipment.

That sounds like fun. I feel for you.
