I am trying to figure out my shock measurements and I have run into a snag. It is all in the "type" of ends on each. I am using these charts as a reference:
http://www.off-road.com/toyota/travel.html
http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/shocks/index2.html

I know that both the front and rear are using "loops" at the bottom, but the tops are where I am not sure. I am using stock mounts for the tops, but I have only replaced the rears in Explorers, and know nothing about how the fronts mount at the top. I will look in the morning, but can't do it now. I know the top of the rear mounts with a "loop" style with that funky insert in it........is that a particular style that I can order directly? Of all the styles that are list, which style is that? Or do I need to get a "loop" style and add the insert?

Like I said, I have never even looked at the top mount on the front, which type of mount is it?

Any info would be great!! Thanks Guys!!

robb, i am not 100% sure, but i think they have a threaded rod and push up that way then get a bushing and a nut on the fronts.... the rears are standard eye loops....

The Rancho website, www.gorancho.com has a section with the applications for each vehicle. Look on there for the Explorer, front or rear. Get the part number then go to the chart with the specs by part number and find the Explorer one. Then search for a PN with the same ends but a different length.

I'm 100% that the explorer's front shock set up is a threaded rod with bushings and washers on each side that passes through the top mount, and it's topped off with a nut.
