I have an 03, 4.6L. I've been chasing a random misfire on it for a long time. It gets along fine, but under hard acceleration, there's zero power. I've replaced the plugs, coils, fuel filter and pump, and even deleted the EGR. Since the EGR delete, I've noticed it does have a little more goose in the throttle, but not much. So long as you don't go past 50% throttle, it accelerates fine, and tows my popup camper with no problem. It's got about 175k on it.

I highly doubt this to be an option, but, I do have an 01 F150 with a 5.4 2v laying around. The body is rotten, but the powertrain is still good. Would this be an option as a potential swap? I've seen some comments about floor issues, so I'm not hopeful, but, I'm at the point now where it's becoming an appealing option, if possible.

Welcome to this forum! Do you have a trouble code with a check engine light?
I went to go pull the DTC off it, and the scan tool won't connect to the ECU. I've run into this before with it. I've checked the fuses, and those all look OK. It stalls out trying to decide which protocol to use.

Could be an exhaust restriction. Attach a vacuum gauge to intake and if it shows 0 or a little bit above that is a good indicator of problem.

Are you getting horrible gas mileage? I had similar symptoms in mine which is same exact setup. Turned out to be fuel pump.
