I got a 2003 4.0. and a few months ago it randomally stalled out when braking around a turn to a stop or just in a straight line to a stop... It did it so randomally it was no more then 2 times a month.. so i didnt pay any attention to it.. There was no check engine light or anything.. Then it started to do it more and more often mostly when coming to a stop.. or turning onto a block dying out right in the middle of the turn, making it pretty dangerous if i was driving with one hand. It just would cut out... Today i noticed every now and then at a red light it would idle ruff... just for a few second and then idle fine.. TO TOP IT ALL OFF today on the way to work if i was driving at like 3 0r 4 rmps and had to come to a stop the rpms stayed up as i was braking. At it did that a few times.. Which was very dangerous. It was like i had one foot on the gas and one on the brake.. If i had to take a guess i would say its the Mass Air flow sensor? any input guys/girls? thanks in advance:D :D :D

p.s i also got a K&N full intake system.. Could that have broke my mass air flow sensor??

dude... if you think your truck is doing things that could harm you or others, TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (or a shop) TO GET FIXED!

well if its the mass air flow sensor it wont be covered under waranty because i voided the warantary on the intake and exhauast because they are both after market...

If its just a mass air flow problem ill just order a high perfomance one and install it... and kill two birds in one stone get more power and fix the problem.. thats why if anyone knos why my truck is doing this they can let me know! thanks

Sounds like a fuel pump. This crap happened to me in my old Focus which Ford had recalled due to accidents reported to the NHTSA. It only happened when I cornered too fast and floored the gas.

Does anyone know a website where i can get a high performance mass air flow sensor? or a stock one from? I want to compare prices and order one now! i cant take ita any longer!

I would check your local junkyards first, or I would ask someone locally to let you borrow theirs for a 5 minute test drive. Last resort is to get one from one of the sponsors on this website before you go to the Ford dealership, their prices seem better than my discounted price at my local dealership. I have never dealt with them, but I bought many parts from Gene Evans Ford from being referred by the Mustang guys on Corral.net. however their shipping/packing sucked.

My father has a 2002 v8.. i got an 03 v6 is his mass air flow senosr the same as mine? should i test drive it with his?

my friend told me that once ur internal computer adjusts the flow sensor for the larger intake ur engine should adjust so idk if thats the problem... id say its prolly a fuel pump problem, because regardless of how its taking in air, it should still take in air... randomly cutting off sounds like a fuel issue
