Can this be done without too much problem? Ideally what I would like is to use a cutout flare on the front of my X to make room and cover the tire that is sand blasting my paint job now. The issue with that is I would not be able to get a flare that looks just like it for the rear.
So I was thinking of just putting an extend-a-flare on the front from a ranger and the same design and color on the rear from a explorer. THe reason I was thinking front from a ranger is because I think they have larger front fender openings. If I am correct in saying htis it wojuld allow me to use them as a cutout flare on the X.
The main goals that must be accomplished by this are (1) I need to make room for the 33s so they dont rub at all, which they do on the sheet metal in the front. (2) to cover the tires completely so all of the road gunk stays off of the X. New England winters beat the hell out the paint job even with out tires that stick out 3" and (3) I need it to look decent, which means I can ahve different fender flares in the front and back.
Thank you in advance for you help and yes I have searched and searched, any and all suggestions are welcome (except fiberglass because it wont meet goal #2).

I don't think anyone has tried it....yet

I thought about that for Namitey's truck, but we haven't gotten around to playing with the idea yet. yes, Ranger wheel openings are much larger than those on the ex's.

cool, please keep me/us updated on how that goes if you do it. I wont be doing anything until May or so.

Seriously muskrat, i'm not skuured to cut, i'm actually looking at cutting my fenders, so if anything, can you take pics of someone holding the flares next to the fenders and pics of install if you go that route?

If I can find someone getting rid of the flares, or when I find a few more dollars, I want to put them on my truck, I'll compare them to Dougs truck before I intstall them on mine. RIght now, I think he's going to get a roll of the rubber fender flare from JCWhitney, and just cut to make the tires stuff with out rubbbing. You can get this relatively cheap, do all wheel wells for about $60. and they come in a variety of sizes.

yeah I know I can do that but I was hoping for a better look than that. Still a possible though, i just wish they made cut outs
