Ranger front suspension

I have a 98' explorer sport and would like to know if the Ranger drop kits fit my car. I have seen several 4x4 explorers using the Ranger lift kits and they bolt right on. Do the Ranger drop kits do the same, or are they different?

I Think, but James will need to chime in here. But I think the Ranger front end kit will not work. The A arms are too short. But James has tried it I haven't.

the ranger lowering kit will not work because a ranger has coil springs vs. your explorer's torsion bars.

I know it has coil springs, that was my point. I wanted to know if it was possible to switch to the ranger upper and lower control arms and use coil springs instead of the explorer's torsion bars. In other words I would like to remove the torsion bars and replace them with coilsprings or coilovers.

I'm not entirely sure but you might have to replace the spindle too.

I thought about that too, and when it came to mind I also thought about a possible spindle drop.

It is SLIGHTLY more complicated than removing the tortion bars and installing coil springs. You would have to completely fab up a link system to hold everything. Take a look at the thread on the RCD Coilover Kit in the Susp. Forum. Go to the last couple of pages with the pics of the kit. That is basically what you would have to create just to get the front to stay together with a coil/coilover setup.

Robb those aren't links, remember? They're just for lateral support, so the front crossmember doesn't callpase on itself.
