I have looked all over this site and I cant find any information on this so I figured I'd ask. I have found a 89 or 90 ranger with a 4 in suspension lift and I can get a really good deal on it like a $100 or so. (just the lift that is and I have to take it off the ranger.) I have a 91 explorer 4x4 and I know the suspension parts on the ranger and the explorer are about the same so If I were to get the lift would it fit. Oh and It has I believe a block kit in the back so could I just use shackles and ad-a-leaves to get the back up high enough on my x. thanx any info on this would be appreciated Im hoping to get It and I dont want to pass up the deal if its worth it.

Hi fumanchew,
Welcome to the site. I hope you enjoy it as much as We all do.

You will not need the blocks for the rear end as the ranger is a SOA(Spring Over Axle) and the Explorer is SUA(Spring Under Axle). Going SOA will give you 5.5" of lift in the back. You would be better off getting 4" lifted springs for the rear. Skyjaker has rear springs for a 4" lift. Hope this helps

Thanx Ray I apreciate the help. I love this site Ive been goin to it for about a year I just never got around to registering. My main concern was that the front suspension parts would work like the axle drop brackets and the radius arm brackets. I wasnt planning on doing a spring over in the rear I was just asking If using shackles and add-a-leaves In the rear would give me enough lift to bring the rear up with the front or atleast enought lift that it wouldnt look odd.
Thanx

I think using add-a-leafs and shackles to bring you upto 4" would be alittle too much for them. You are better off buying new springs. If you do it right the firs time, you won't have to do all over again. If you are only paying $100.00 for the lift, then another $350.00 for springs isn't gonna hurt, especially when it also makes it a lot easier to do. Hope this helps.

thanx again for the info I guess I will just have to go get the springs. Theres a local place around here that carries skyjacker springs and the guy said they'd be about $325 or so and according to one of my mail order catalogues there $411. So hopefully Im gettin a decent deal.

That's a fair price for the springs. You won't be disapointed with them.
