Ranger tranny???

I know it's not an x but thoought someone might know. I have a 84 Ranger V6/5speed. I'd like to swap in an auto tranny. What would be the best one to use? It's just a runaround parts chaser.

If its not youre daily driver why go through all the effort of swapping in an auto trans? Im not sure about an 84 but it might be more of a hassle than its worth. Assuming its a mechanically controled automatic transmission anything out of an 82-90 BII or Ranger should work.

Youo can bolt up a C5 auto that is a 3 speed basically the same as a C4. came on all 85 and older rangers in the 4wds not sure about the 2wds. It is a good tranny and can interchange c4 parts or use teh bell housing to put a real c4 in your ranger. I plan on picking one up in a few weeks to swap in my truck.

Also teh 2.8 2.9 and 4.0 all have the same bolt pattern and an A4LD could be swaped in as well. not sure about the wiring and all that good stuff though.

Also the reason Im swaping trannies has nothing to do with DD will actually make it worse but will be much nicer when I am 4 wheeling.

The reason I want an auto is my wife will be driving it sometimes and she has a bad hip, has trouble with the pedal.
