Man this is sooo annoying, but when i turn up the bass on my aftermarket, all I hear is the back 2 speakers, the ones by the rear seat, rattle. And the rattle is commin from the speaker grilles, thus dynamat really wont help, any solutions?
Are you using the stock speakers in the rear? If so it sounds like you are just driving them too hard. When you turn up the bass on your headunit you are boosting 1 frequency. Now you stock speakers aren't capable of handling much boost at that frequency. The size of speakers that fit in the doors aren't made for reproducing a lot of bass. If you are not getting enoungh bass when the bass control is set in the middle position, you need to add some other speakers. Even if you've ungraded them they may still have the same problem. Don't expect your door speakers to be able to produce the sounds you want. If you are just running the power in the headunit to them, that can be a problem as well. Underpowering a speaker can be worse than overpowering them. The typical headunit may claim to put out 35watts per channel, but only if conditions are perfect. Most headunits will only put out about 7.5 watts per channel of clean power. You may be underpowering them and that may be your problem. I've done professional car audio installations for over 8 years and have run into many situations like this. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be glad to help out.
