Rattling noise in engine??

1998 4SOHC 4x4 stock (Australian version)
Got a serious rattle on cold start up.
Ford mecanic tells me its the timing belt tensioner and that it needs to be replaced.
I read some where on this site that Ford did a recall on these tensioners, is this correct?
My Xs is about 2000kms out of warranty although I did have it back in to the Ford dealer under warranty for a rattle in the engine and they replaced the front belt tensioner.
Guys, I need some amunition to do battle with the dealers and get this under warranty, can anyone help???

Do a search for "00M12" "cam tenioner recall" "cam chain rattle"... I think you'll find everything you need to know.

They extended the warranty on the tensioners to 72,000 miles I believe. There were several fixes and only the latest one seems to work. Not sure how many miles you actually have though

UPDATE

Thanks to you guys and the information you've put me onto, it looks like the dealer will cover this one.

Interesting to note that the cam chain tensioner rattle was a recall every where except Australia.
