i got a 93 x with the 4.0. sometimes when it's cold it will make a rattling noise from the engine, but as soon as i put it in drive it will go away. What could cause that?

Heat Shield. =)

really??? what shield is it? and why would it go away wheni shift into drive? it could be that put i thought it sounded like more of a heavier sound

Is it a ticking, or a "pop can rolling on floor" type of sound? The second sound is the muffler heat shield loosening.

my truck does that... well, mine does it becuase my truck's tcase skid is bent up and touching the tcase........ when in reverse is the only time mine does it....

just because when it's in park, the truck will vibrate differently then when it's in drive at a standstill.
