I was filling up last night, and I bent down to look at a rock stuck in my tire, and right then my tank was getting full. Right before the pump cut off, about 2 ozs + of gas leaked out a hole in the top of my hose that goes from the fill hole to the tank. I figure it is definatly a fire hazard... raw gas got on my leaf springs, spare, ground.... it was plenty to start a nice sized fire. Should I take this to the dealership, or is this something I can fix without blowing myself up (so long as I ground myself)? This wouldnt be causing my bad gas mileage would it?

find the hole and put a piece of gum over it... J/k i think pep boys makes patch kits for this type of thing. Check that out. Im sure someone else can answer this much better.

Just put a new hose on ... probably only cost ya $20-30. If your too cheap for that then get some Seal-All it comes in a yellow tube at most auto parts stores and if you smear a bunch around the hole it will stop the leak in about 10-15minutes. I've used it on leaks on my gas tank all the time and it lasts for years afterwards.
