RCD RANGER 4" coilover kit for "4x4" !!

Yeah yeah, I know we're seriously laggin!!! If you worked there you would understand why it's taking soo long. It's not the only project we're working on. I could come up with TONS of legit reasons as to why it's not out yet but my personal opinion is that we let the public know about it WAY to early.

Anyways, I don't know what marketing's current release date is that they are giving but I guarentee you that right now, actually as of yesterday, the kit has begun drastic work and we should have a pretty defined release date soon. I can guarantee you that August isn't going to happen. I know you all think the Ranger kit is the biggest thing we've got going but actually it's not. We've got so many other kits that we've pushed to get out before because of public demand. Now the Ranger's turn is up and it's my main job right now to get that thing out so I'll let you guys know as it's getting closer.

Oh, and I hope I havn't said anything that I'm not supposed to, I'm just telling you generally what I know since I know you guys are dieing to get one of these and I know what it's like!!!

Coryl, I love your ride!!!!!!!!!! A little slower through the rough then mine most likely but I'm sure you can go places I would only dream of!!!

rcd kit

you know, there is a place in san diego called mcneil racing, and for 2000 dollars they will fab your whole front end, dual shock hoops, king coilovers, and fox remotes.
rcd can kiss my butt!

everybody doesnt live in San Diego dude. RCD can take their time with the kit. Im broke right now anyways.

I wish I would have known that, I just spent 2K on the Superlift. I think I'll keep the superlift for a year, and then do a SAS.

Good plan. Because if you actually wheel your truck for a year with 35's on it, your IFS will be pretty close to shot anyway.

You also get what you pay for. These opinions have nothing to do with RCD and are totally mine. Perry McNeil and his cousin's shop McNeil racing both are a joke!!! Sure, they'll build what you said for that price but the quality is a joke. Have they learned to weld yet?? Oh and you obviously don't know too much about what your talking about since the kit you're talking about is for 91-94 Exploders with TTB or Ibeam front ends and the kit we're building is for the newer A-Arm Exploders. Also, Perry and McNeil racing aren't exactly our competition. We bulid mass produced lift kits, not long travel kits. They build hand fabbed long travel kits. Their work as far as hand fabbed shops go is a joke and anyone that dumps their money into them is just asking to spend it again a year or two later when their stuff fails. Who extends their axles by cutting them and sleeving them with .120w tubing. If you want to talk about Perry's stuff I'm more then willing cause I've been in the industry for awhile now and have been racing against him in 7open for years now too. His truck is nice, too bad that's not what he builds you for $2000!!! Oh you forgot to mention he's in TJ so he has no overhead cost, hmmmm so his quality is a joke and he's got no bills. Why's it even $2000. Well, again this is totally my opinion totally based on my experience of talking with him at his house in Lemon Grove, racing against him, and looking at Explorers he's built. BTW McNeil Racing (Chad, is that his name?) builds their stuff exactly like Perry since they learned from Perry. If you want a long travel front end I can suggest some quality shops that will cost more but you won't have to pay again later to fix their problems and redesign their front end. Spirit, Stewarts race works, H & M, Fantelli Motorsports, Autofab, The Truck House (PinoBuilt), Camburg, Donahoe, The Baja Shop, etc.... (These are all in San Diego and Orange County and do WAY better work the the McNeils) This has nothing to do with RCD and he's not our competition. Soooooo, I guess if you want to discuss his fab company more feel free to start a thread and I'll talk. Ohhh, his fiberglass is VERY HIGH quality though and I would buy it if I actually wanted to fit in with the SoCal trend of white fiberglass on trucks with no need and stock suspension.

LOL:p , sad but true.

I'm glad someone laughs at those trucks too. Now that mine is set up (oh wait my tranny blew so it's not anymore but that's another story, hopefully it'll be going next weekend again) Like I was saying, now that mine is setup I LOVE pulling up next to people with full fiberglass and seeing the look on their face as they glance over thinking they're cool and then notice my front end! Best is when you do it parking and as you're walking away the kid that parked next to you is crawling under to look. I also had the chance to blow by a kid that had the full fiberglass and no bed in his ranger in the whoops at Blow Sands out at Ocotillo. He was doing about 15mph and bouncing and I past him doing 45 driving with my knees and cracking a beer (yeah yeah I know that's not safe!!!) Best part about that one was he had no bed with the cage and long travel shocks while still running stock leafs that he didn't even at least pull the helper spring out of. Then later he was looking at mine trying to figure out why mine was smoother.

Jason_25

Why do you say that? What should I be worried or watch out for?

Because the stress from running a 35" will wear everything very quickly. It's not going to destroy your IFS, but you'll start to loose vital parts like bearings in the hubs and bushings. Sure, there will be someone who will tell you different, they just haven't had them long enough. I run 33's on my 01 sport and I've replaced one hub already. I have a friend that ran 33x14 baja claws on his 01 sport and grenaded the front diff. He runs 35" AT's now, but I still don't recommend them.

high unsprung weight is IFS enemy. claws and swampers weight alot more than usuall. Up to 85lbs per tire. Try and keep it light.

So August is scrapped... This year maybe or what?

Well I don't know if you guys know our procedure but we usually build 5 first run kits to test fit, design packaging, figure out pricing etc... From the results of that we will go through and start manufacturing which can take 30-60 days from begining to shipping. Well, we're building those 5 kits right now, they'll probably be welded and ready to paint next week. So if all that goes smooth we'll start building the kits soon....

Whoever is interested in running 35" tires on an SLA setup, talk to Wilber on the RRORC boards. He has replaced CVs more times than he cares to discuss.

Will there be an increase in wheel travel over stock with the RCD kit?

I *really* needed this lift last weekend in the sierras! I got hung up on *everything* on the underside and rocks claimed alot of the tupperware panels. Rock stacking gets tiring after a while too.

I'm just now replacing my first set of CV's and hubs after 12 months of running 33's and 6 months running 35's :(

And No, the RCD kit will keep the stock 8.5" of wheel travel.

What's SLA?

As for travel I'm not sure of the numbers. I know we're not marketing it as a long travel kit or anything and I can't imagine it being insane because of the CVs. They seem to be the biggest limiting factor in the whole setup. There may be ways to modify or tweak the kit to get more outta it but it may be at the cost of your CVs unless you upgrade to something that can handle the angles. Of coarse that's straight outta my mouth and I GUARENTEE you'll never hear RCD recomend that. I'm just saying the possibility may be there for those of you that like to tinker!!!

Hey Khris,

With this kit is it possible to use stock designed replacement poly bushings on the upper/lower control arms? The kit looks as if it comes with them for the front sway bar which is good. When i lift I wanna take the sway out of the truck.

So this is officialy a 5" kit. I heard you can adjust it another .5 somehow for more lift. It this what you talking about? But it will wear the CVs......?

How did your CVs go about failing? explode, snap or what? Have you had any problems with tie rods bending or snaping?

The hadn't failed . . . yet. A month or so ago one of them started clicking on deceleration. When they started sqeeling and popping both on and off road i figured it was time to replace the half shafts. I plan on disassembling them to see how bad they actually were.

Never had a problem with a tie rod (knock on wood).
