Title says most of it, I've taken off most of my body panels(interior, of course), and plan on re-wiring all of my speakers, as I recently obtained a large quantity of speaker wire for an excellent price. I'm installing 2 speakers per rear door, and eventually plan to amplify everything with the Audiobahn A6601Q.

But my question is, what path do the factory wires take?

I'm basically gutting it of any resemblance to the factory setup, including removing the factory amp and everything, so as to clean up my wiring mess.

Thanks for the help.

i think the speaker wires run in the bunch with all the rest of the wires its all part of one harnes on most cars...wwell multiple harness' going to different parts of the vehicle but only 1 per part....i cant explain that sry

Why are you installing 2 speakers per rear door? # of speakers isnt as important as the quality of the speakers.
a pair of GREAT speakers will sounds tons better than 4, 6, or 8 average speakers.

And why are u doing the rear speakers and not the front. The front sound stage is more important than the rear-fill speakers.

The speaker wire run out the door, through a rubber grommet/hose and and then into the cabin. U will need to pull back the carpet on the floor of the truck as well.. which will involve removing the door sill trim.
You might as well remove the seats as well, it will make everything alot easier with the seats out.

I need to clarify, I am going to have a total of 6 door speakers, 2 front, and 4 rear. They are all infinities, and I just got bored and figured, why not?

That isnt actually going to happen yet, as my head unit cannot power all 6, but I plan to go ahead and run the wire in preparation for when I do install the amplifier.

Thanks for the tips!

What size spekers are you going to put in the rear? The speaker wires run from your doors back to the stock amp located behind the pass. side rear panel. The wires that you are looking for are left side of it if your looking strait at it. 3 of the wires there are power, ground and remote so dont get those mixed up in there. In my opinion if your going to amplify your door speakers its always better to run all new speaker wire.

Thats exactly what I'm doing, removing all of the factory wiring, and putting in all new speaker wire.

I plan on having 2 6x8s per rear door, and an Infinity Perfect Component system in the front doors.

I know where your going to put one 6x8 but where is the other gonna be?

Also it would be better just to leave the factory wire in there for the meantime and just run new speaker wire to the doors

My rear doors have 2 already cut 6x8 openings per door. When you remove the door panel, look on the bottom right area of the door, and on the grey insulation, or whatever it is, you can see a cutout in the shape of a speaker, and if you pull this out then it reveals a second 6x8 opening. You have basically unlimited depth and height from this opening.

I know how the metal in the doors is cut to a speaker but what are you doing with the plastic cover?

That is the tricky part, I was thinking about just removing part of the plastic behind the carpeted part of the panel, and making the carpet as free flowing as possible without making any noticable appearance difference inside. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I just thought it might be a fun thing to do.

i would just stick with one in each door. and if thats not loud enough then add tweeters

the imaging won't be any good if you focus more speakers/power to the rear coaxials. You want to have the focus up front. e.g. i run 3 way components in the front and nothing in the rear thats not a sub of some kind (8 or 15"). the reason for this is that you want the bias to be from the middle of the hood if you can- and in the x the rear speakers are closest to your head... their location messes up the imaging even with the same speakers front and rear, but by running more/bigger ones in the rear you will get a bad result.

as for running fewer speakers and better speakers- i really disagree with that. So long as your not running like walmart brand speakers or something awful, running 4 average ones will be better than 2 good ones (not great ones)with adequate power. Most speakers sound great in the lower range of their power handling (no or very little distortion) and running two speakers with 50 watts is louder than one speaker at 100 watts (assuming they have the same specs).

so the combination of those two ideas is that i'd highly recommend running two sets of components up front or some 3-ways- if you can fit them. But avoid the rear bias.

I think you are really missing what im saying. The average joe who thinks putting more speakers in his doors is gonna make it sound better doesnt understand the dynamics of it. Throwing in 2 6x8's per rear door as he has planned to do is bad.
Multi speakers setups need to be carefully thought out, and its usually not something most average car audio enthusiasts will want to venture into. A front door with an 8" woofer and a good 6.5 midbass and a good 3.5 speaker and a 1in tweeter would be an awesome set up! assuming one could provide them all with enough power and have the placement of each be ideal in the door panel/kickpanels.

All i was saying is that for what he is doing, a good pair of speakers ie. a nice set of 6.5" components in the front is gonna provide better results than adding 2 average infinity 6x8's to each rear door. The 4 6x8's with lots of power may get really loud.
But when does loud = good sound? I can make a stock stereo get REALLY loud, but who is gonna wanna listen to that?

we both agree that it is a bad plan to put 4 6 by 8s in the rear doors. i think we are just thinking of different cases.

one word..... imaging
a few more words.... tooo much rear fill

Here's what I'd do....
Get two sets of components
1 set 5 1/4 in kick panels in front
1 set 6 1/2 in door enclosure in front
1 set of 6x8 plates in rear.....
BOOM you have very good front, and good rear fill....
(or if you dont have a sub, forget rear fill and get a sub, bridge it to the rear channels at 4 ohms)

yah what he said get 2 big 15s and all u need is 1 set of components =)...i really have now idea what im talking about...but im bored lol o i forgot ull need an 8" sub to fill in the gap from the 15s to the comps =) that way ur 15s can hit really really low

Have fun with the driver's door. You're gonna have to take that baby off and drill out two of the empty wire holes in the plastic thing. You'll know what I'm talking about when you get started. I just did that to mine this weekend. All I can say is you definitely need 2 people to take a door off and put it back on. They're sorta heavy and very awkward. ;)

First of all, thanks for the help, I didn't even think about balance.

The plan was to replace my existing 6x8s in the front doors with an Infinity Perfect Component set, and rather than have the existing speakers take up space in the attic, just put them in that hole in the rear doors(thought about mounting them somehow in the very rear, but couldn't find a decent looking way to do it).

Eventually I do plan to add a subwoofer or two to the rear, but I'll just take it one step at a time(between paychecks).
