ready for a winch

Good day all....unless u can't stand McCain.......I'm ready to head into some unknown country that is basically only inhabited by coyotes and their human counterparts.Mexican smugglers. This area is N. West of Arivaca ,Arizona. My destination is Backbone Mt. There is good info which leads me to believe there's good gold and large old ghost towns (3) to enjoy which are seldom visited.The illegals avoid these places due to superstitions of bad spirits from days long past and the people who died there. I've been told to make sure of an extra spare tire and gas......got those.......now I would like a winch as a companion.

I have a '93 Explorer XLT 4x4 and am wondering what a good reliable,economical match would be for my great ride.........any info would be greatly appreciated..All the Best.....Kirk

I've been looking at winches myselft. The cheapest route is going to be through harbor freight. If you buy the 8K LBS it's about $300. I doubt you will find a better deal on a new winch.

Hi Scott...........I have a Harbor Freight just a few miles away..will check them out...........Is attaching a real pain?........just wondering.my mig welder is in New Mexico.

check with 4wheel parts they came out with there own brand of winch for around 300 bucks I belive it has a 4000lb rate
