2006 Explorer XLT 6cyl
I've got a 2006 Ford Explorer, XLT, 6cyl.

Back in November it broke down and luckily I've had another vehicle. Now it's getting warmer I can work on it, amd I could really use some help.

So while driving started losing power, full acceleration and only getting lime 4k rpm and topping out at 50mph. Then 2k rpm and 40mph with the same acceleration. Pulled over on the side of the road and as I was pulling over it died. Hasn't started since.

Pulled a bunch of codes and i don't know where to start and feeling overwhelmed.

Previous repairs (all in 2021)
Water pump, serpentine belt, fan clutch, and harmonic balancer.

The codes pulled after it broke down are
P0300
P0301
P0303
P0305
P0401
P0302
P0306
P061c

Most of those are misfires

The po401 is a dpfe sensor (which confuses me because when I look that up it says it doesn't have one. And the p061c is an ICM code and I know nothing of those.

My thought is that the egr valve is clogged or bad and that's where the dpfe sensor code is coming from. And that caused the random misfires on all cylinders. The ICM is mystery to me though.

Please if anyone can help I'd be forever grateful.

p0401 is a egr insufficient flow code.
p061c is an internal control module rpm peformance code.

how does the engine sound when you crank it is it smooth or is there any unusual noises?
reason for asking is the 4.0 is known for timing chain issues and if that is the cause no need to diagnose any further. if it sounded good then move on.

Here is what you can check for the p061c code.
The early 4th gen explorers are known to have wiring problems where the insulation gets brittle and crumbles then the bare wires short out. check for any wiring problems first. The place I would start is at the crank shaft position sensor. if no problems are found move to testing the crank position sensor you will need a scan to to look at the rpm live data while cranking if no rpm shows up its probably a bad crank position sensor.
Below is a website for the p061c code and possible solutions take a look at it it is what I am using to give a recommend place to start.

The p0401 code could cause all the misfires but in order to test it the vehicle has to be running and I don't think that a blocked egr can cause a crank no start where as a bad crank position sensor could.
