Would it be relatively easy to put Power seats from a 97 Mountaneer in a 95 Explorer (without original power seats) Anyone have any ideas on this?

Thanks,
BrokenBen

They will bolt right in, all you would have to do is run power to them.

I agree, it a straight bolt in. Just run power and your done. :chug:

Thanks

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I could score some wiring harnesses from the junk yard.

No need to get a harness really. It's only two wires, power and ground. Just tap into a switch 12v power source and ground the ground wire.

look in the power distributio box under the hood, you will see an open fuse location for power seats. There are 10 ga wires that run from the box to the white plug on the firewall. What Iam getting at is your truck is already wired for the power seats up to there at least, you need to add the fuse and then you can use the power feed for your new seats.

You do NOT want to just tap into a 12v power wire, the seat motors use a large amp circuit, 30amps I believe. They need to get a good power source, the reason they are 10ga is because the seats use alot of power to move, tapping into another 12v sourrce will likely blow the circuit.

Ford wired up the truck for power seats even if it doesnt have them, to do it right you should use the existing power wires. :)
Been there done that!
My truck came with cloth seats, manual, but with air lumbar,so power was there waiting to be used, the problem was the air lumbar circuit did not supply enough voltage and the seats moved SLOW if at all....

i put front and rear leather out of a 2001 in my 96. bolt right up, and i used the harnesses off my 96 seats in place of the 2001's harnesses. real easy. as long as it has the same options you can just keep the same harness like i did.

hey the seats look good..i was thinking about bidding on those infact ;)

Is this the same for the 94 explorer xlt? I just installed some 2000 mountaineer seats (leather power) in my explorer (manual cloth). So are you saying I need to put the 30 amp fuse in the distribution box and then ....run 10 gauge wire from the fuse box to the seats? How do i hook into the fuse box?

Thanks.

Sweet thing is, I am close enough to pick them up and they aren't even charging me the $35 - so $112.50 and some Gas to go get em!!! Glad we weren't bidding against each other - :chug:

Hopefully Zaino's is as good as you guys say, These seats are dirrrrrty!! Ordered two bottles of the cleaner while I was at it!! - I figure I will need it go get a good clean on them. - What is the best thing to clean the carpeted / cloth parts of the seats?

Thanks

call up a local carpet cleaning company. they should be able to do it no problem, and for less $$ than a detailing place.
