Rear aux lights

R

I am going to buy some fog lights and use them as auxilary back up lights. Im looking for the best spot to mount them. So far I have under the rear bumper and inbetween the rear roof rack and the body. I am afraid that if I put them under the rear bumper I will smash them when I am wheeling, but if I put them on the rear roof rack they will be to high up and wont help me. Any thoughts, opinions, pics?

Thanks for the response Brian. I was wondering if you had any pics of your lights. I was poking around on your site and didn't see any.

Thanks

I like them under the bumper because it sort of hides them but I am so afraid that I will break them when wheeling.

that's why i stuffed mine under there..you can't tell in that pic but i would have hit the bumper before i hit the light's

Yes, putting them low conceals them more, but they are much safer up top. Both will give good light if you aim them correctly.

mine are under the bumper. i hardly ever (if ever) wheel but ive already busted one set  but i really dont want them on the roof...

Do a search with my name and backup or reverse lights... I know I posted pics and a diagram of how i mounted my $18 55W driving lights (Wal-Mart) on my roof rack. They give great light. I don't have time to search right now, but if I think of it later I will

Here is how Hokie mounted them..

Good Luck

Mine are on my hitch - You were there when i broke one Mike!!! However, I throw large stuff on the roof so that ruled out putting them up there. Just buy 'em cheap, mount them low.

there a jeep shop around the corner here, and one of the guys there has some lights beside his plate at the back. In this case, and in the case of 98+, it's way up on the tailgate, so out of harms way, easyish to hook up and high enough to cast good light.
