I replaced the passenger seal on my explorer at 130k miles. Its is leaking again and car has 188k miles on it. Drivers side is original and dry as a bone.
What could be causing this to happen? I never tow or go offfroad either.

Towing or off-roading isnt what destroys seals as the seals do not hold any weight. What destroys seals is typically heat buildup from running the differential low on fluid during highway speeds.

Also the brand of seal makes a huge difference. I once bought the "Motor City" brand only to return it because of its poor dimensional tolerance (it wouldnt fit). I ended up getting ones from the dealership -- slightly more expensive but much better.

Ditto, and when axles wear on the bearing surfaces, the gap to the seal is greater. If the seal looks okay, or if a gap on the bottom is noted(axle lifted upward), then pull the axle out to look at it. Good luck,
