rear brake bleed no joy

lunch time fun

bang on rabs with wrench some. prop up car one rear wheel (yea I know) chock it so not too much can go wrong. start engine, tire spins some maybe 10mph, apply brake, works but take quite a bit of pressure just to stop. I am sure this is not right. Do the same with the other rear wheel, same deal. oh and when I had the drum off to inspect the shoes, I adj the star wheel for good fit.

debating on 100$ or 5$, as long as I keep the car 5$ sounds good, BUT if I ever sold it some ding bat would kill themselves in it and blame me. So will have to think about it. Maybe do the 5$ see if that makes them work, and just REMEMBER to disclose if ever sold (prob go the the yard anyway, few seem interested in something this old, even if in good condition).

I am just hoping I did not blow the seals on my front calipers when I was try to bleed the rears.

Yea on the old ones its hard to get the abs to kick in.only one sensor and its in the rear axle.well crap was hoping that might work or help it in someway.try the dirt road next, hopefully some of that smacking and fluid soaks in and helps

You can always unplug the abs so the light is on to remind you.if the light bothers you, you can cut a small square outa electric tape and put over the dash spot.would be pretty obvious for anyone thats sees it and would know there is something going on with abs..

good point about the light on. I do that with the TV box, drives me crazy with all the dang blue lights.

I take it out in the dirt this weekend sound like fun anyway :)

Side note is your rearend a limited slip or open?? I assume open being only one tire spun or could have a very worn LS

I assumed it was open it was the XLT towing package 2WD, but I think that was just an extra oil cooler, I am pretty sure it would have been a big upgrade to go LS. cheap a$$ me would not have popped for it.

Wel guess honestly it doesnt matter if you really only use it on the road..it probably does have a worn ls and 3.73 or 4.10 gears, most that came with tow package got that, plus a cooler:thumbsup: if you wanna find out there should be a tag on the axle cover

there is a metal tag on the diff cover, lots of numbers and letters. boy if that is LS guess must be pretty worn out, did not seem to want to move at all with one wheel up. on and its pretty messy back there like fresh leakage, guess that will be the next thread.

Yea you can take all those number and enter here and it will tell you.may have a leak and could be why the ls burnt up.its no bigger if you only drive on the road but if it has a leak obviously that would need to be fixed.lol

If you still have the sticker on the driver's door jamb there is an axle code that gives the ratio and whether it's limited slip. However, reading other posts it would appear that the LS doesn't usually last beyond 60-80k miles or so. I've LS in both my GEN1 Ex's but haven't checked either of them lately. (Both have over 200k miles.)

thx guys, will check it out in the AM.
