rear bumper question?

Does any body knows if it the 97 rear bumper will fit a 2001 explorer 4 door?, im asking because i have a 01 model and need it and in craigslist theres a cheap one but comes from a 97, i google it and appears that are different 95-97 and 98-01.

Any advise are welcome.

They are different. The '95-'97 bumper has a place for a license plate on it, and the '98-'01 does not, as the plate was now located on the tailgate. The only cut on the '98-'01 bumper is a half-moon for the bumper ball/tongue clearance.

It will fit, and you can use a '95-'97 ok on a '98-01 but you will have an empty plate cutout, a bit more difficult to put a '98-'01 bumper on the '95-'97 Ex as there would be no place for a rear plate on the truck.
