I have researched the crap out of this topic and just have a few questions that I would like to ask to clear up some things. I can get the set up off of a 95 or later explorer. Buy new rotors, calipers, pads. I can get the rest from a junk yard. I'm a little confussed about the brake lines/hose set up. There must be a rubber hose from the calipers to the metal hard lines, then can I use the steel braded line I alredy have and connect it to the new bracket were the hard lines all come together? I can figure this all out once I get in there and see the set up from my X and the 95 or newer X. The only question I have now is the master cylinder. I read a whole debate (or fight) on the difference between a new RABS valve for adjusting the plunger in the master cylinder. (Thank you for the entertainment on that thread 410.) I beleave I can leave the valve alone and just adjust the plunger in the master cylinder to get the braking power were I want it. SO do I need the master cylinder from the newer X or will mine work just fine?

Sorry I meant porportioning valve, not RABS valve. Anybody....Anybody

urs will work

I didn't change my pp valve. I did/do have problems with getting the ebrake fully functional.

what about using a drum brake axle transplanted onto a 2nd gen with discs?

This is how I did mine. Go to the junk yard and buy a rear axel from them and put it under your X. You might have to buy the replacement rubber line because most places like to cut that off. I didn't make any other changes and my brakes work great.

How much did you get your axle for at the junk yard?
