just got an 01 sport trac, and the rear dome does not come on when any doors are opened. is this normal? it does come on by the switch. the front dome also seems dim, can i upgrade the bulbs?

mine doesnt either, im pretty sure its supposed to be like that. and yeah there is a way to upgrade the bulbs to LED's, search for threads about it, i know of a couple on here. I'm not sure if there is an easy plug and play way to do it or not, but there are some threads to help you out on here.

im going to bump this for more opinions,my buddy just got an 01,same problem he says

there's probably a lot of dust on the lens and reflector,
take off the cover (snaps in) and clean both parts, there may be a switch that controls how the light functions also - check the owners manual

Other than that do a LED upgrade, there are a few threads on interior light LEDs.

just checked mine and both dome lights come on when i open my doors. i have an 03 xlt. dont know if that makes a difference. it shouldnt be too hard figuring out how to get that rear one to light up as well.

mine comes on too, just not when the doors are opened. i just what to no

know if its a job 1 thing or not. the chances of all 4 door switches bad are pretty slim.

Not sure about these trucks, but I though my 97 ex didn't come with an auto on back seat light. I saw a 95 though with the light on in the back, took my off and looked for where the bulb should be in the middle. After some frustration I realized the bulb was missing and the little copper things are the connectors.
Took over a year of owning the truck to figure this out. Don't be affraid to pull it down, and look it over real good. Might just be a missing bulb or cut wire.

found the problem. i took the cover off, and there are 3 bulbs. 2 are for the switches, and the middle is for the doors. can anyone tell me the number of the rear middle bulb, as there is no number?
thanks

oh man, i just switched mine not too long ago. once i get back to my garage, ill look up what number they were. hopefully, they may also be able to help you figure it out at your local kragen or autozone too. just pull the one you need to replace and bring it in.
