As an uppdate the other replacement handle I put in is now broke.

Had my original one broken for about 4 yrs, replaced it and it broke in under three days. (rear left)

Yeah, the ones in my Mounty are now starting to feel not so healthy. They will be break, it's just a matter of time now.

rear left broke so the handle on the inside pulls out like normal but doesnt open the door, I hate removing door panels so i havent replaced them....Whenever i take a door panel off it breaks

i once broke the inside pass rear handle.. i was pissed off and slammed the door from inside by grabbing the lever... it closed, and the lever broke off in my hand....

Back left followed by the back right on the old '96.

One back door doesnt open at all. And the other one only opens from the outside.

Left Rear

Left rear just broke. About how much to buy a replacment handle from the Ford Parts Dept?

Here in PA it was less than 15. I told the guy I need an inside read door handle and He said " For an Exlporer? Oh yeah we always keep plenty of them in stock"

Checked at Wilson-Cornelius Ford in Vallejo, CA. $39.95.
I am still looking for one.

E-mail Torre from Ford Parts Network. It's on a banner for the site. I'm sure he can hook you up A LOT cheaper than that. That is highway robbery.

I found one in Red Bluff, CA for $20. I am heading up that way tomorrow. I don't know what is up with the Vallejo Ford parts.

My driver side rear door handle broke from a friend pulling on it too hard while the door was locked...as all of us know, the rear doors cant be opened when the door is locked but other people dont know that so they just try & force it! the plastic teeth on the gear mechanism are what got broken. the guy at the dealer said i could fix it myself so i'll give it a shot

It's very easy. If you can remove a door panel you will have no trouble.

Rear Door Panel - how do I remove it??

Need to fix a door handle, could someone please tell me how to remove the door panel on a '95 X??? Pretty please??

Welcome to the site :) :bounce: I believe all you need to do is remove the screws under the fixed handle, then
"unpop" the clips. They sell door panel removers at auto stores for about 5 bucks. You can use a butterknife to start it also. Once you have one part unclipped you can tug the panel off one clip at a time. The plastic clips hold pretty tight, and you may have to pull pretty hard.

What? Rear Doors? What are those? Is my X missing something?

Oh no, you didnt hear about the recall did you Yosh? Quick, go to ford and get them to install 2 new doors before they run out :P
