Hey, New here need some quick help.

My wife's 2002 Ford explorer won't unlock the rear doors (Only when its cold out) by remote or door panel, there is no sound like the actuators are clicking.

I would think it was the actuator but it is both doors at the same time. This is not an issue when the temperature of the SUV warms up. The front doors work fine.

Where would you start to fix this?

Edit: Does the rear doors have a separate fuse?

Thank you for your time.

are you saying you can't unlock them from the drivers door controls? Or you can't open them even via themselves?

If it's an issue from the drivers door, either the switch is bad or the wiring in the door jam is breaking. (Which is common on the 2002 model year.)

The remote part is odd.

Thank you Number4 for responding.

Can't unlock/lock(no action) from the rear doors, when using door controls or remote. I have not tried the passenger door, but the next chance I get I will try it; although I assume the same result.

This is only when it is super cold out; which makes me think it could be a fuse(contracting metal) if the passenger doors are on a separate fuse then the main door.

I thought it could be the actuator but multiple going at the same time would be like hitting the lottery.

Now that I think about it, the remote unlocks the drivers door with the first click right? On the second click it unlocks all doors, so it would be the wiring path that is connected to all doors. I really need some diagrams to figure this out.

Anyone have a wiring diagram, or maybe a door control panel pin diagram I could look at?

BigRondo might be your best help, but I haven't seen him posting on here in a while. Send him a PM. I'm pretty sure he has the wiring diagrams for the 2002.

Thank you again Number4 I appreciate your assistance.

Hey I still have not received any reply from my PM. Can anyone else help me?
