There are no TSBs for that issue and I have not heard of that particular seal being a problem before.

I had fluid replaced in mine twice already, and at 150k miles no issues.

First time I hear about that.

Hi dakine,

Have you had the chance to swing by your dealership so a Ford tech can take a look? They'll be your best bet to get this diagnosed and repaired for you. Keep us posted!

Had a axle seal leak on my 2006, rear differential. Has 83,000 miles. The cost was $188 along with new oil.
This was like 2days ago.

Just bought a 2010 Explorer from a private seller. After 2 months, I get the oil changed at Ford and they tell me that the rear axle seal is leaking and has water in it. Does that mean that the truck has water damage??? Ford wants $300 to fix it. The truck only has 34,300 miles.

Hi vanessa2155,

I want to look into this and see how I can help. Send me a PM with your info (VIN, preferred servicing dealer, daytime phone number, and full name) and I'll start researching.
