The 5 yr/60000 mile drivetrain warranty is getting ready to expire (on the time side). I have had what I suspected as a gear noise that shows up at 50 mph ,so I take it in to the local dealership for a warranty repair. They diagnose carrier bearings and/or pinion bearing noise. The gears look good. At any rate, a week later,it's still on the rack and they have a shim thickness problem(one broke and they are having trouble with finding the correct thickness). I would assume they would be the same for the standard 8.8, but they say they are different.
Anyone else have an issue similar with the IRS rear end as far as shim availability?
