My 93 sport rear end is having problems the dealer said its the rear spider gear going out he estimated it to be about 600 dollars for parts and labor... my question is at a local junk yard there is a 97 sport that I could get the whole rear end for about 300 dollars with only 21,000 miles on it, can it be put on mine or did ford change the rear ends between these years.. Thanks for any info

The only thing that really matters I believe is the ratio (if it is 2wd), on a 4wd you will need to match the front and rear ratios. Otherwise I would guess it is pretty much the same. I believe Paul Gagnon did a rear end swapout for the disc brakes, look around on the website.

Hi J,
Sbrawner2 is correct. You just need to match up the gear ratios. Here is a link to Paul Gagnon's rear axle swap. This is what you'll have to do. I did and axle swap on one of my cars along time ago, and it really isn't hard to do. Hope this helps. One more thing. if you do decide to do it. make sure you flush out the pumpkin real good, and pay attention to what comes out of it. Too many little slivers of metal, and I would be looking real hard at the gears. Dead Link Removed

Did you check to make sure that you have the same gear ratio as the one at the junk yard?
