rear glass wont open - need cable from actuator to latch

Popped the glass this morning to load some things and close it.
Now it wont open.

I could hear the actuator moving, but the glass latch did not pop.

The hatch opened, so I was able to remove the interior panel, and the plastic moisture barrier

I can see the actuator moving, but the cable is broken.
I can pull on the cable to open the glass very easily

Ive been unable to find the cable without buying the whole latch mechanism. There are a few used ones on eBay but Id like a new cable vs one the same age as mine that broke.

Anyone use the cable like this?

Got the cable yesterday
Installed today, works perfectly.

I see now why the latch and cable come as a set in most cases.
The latch is riveted together, and there's not enough room to remove the cable without spreading it. I was able to spread it and bend it back into shape without too much trouble. The other end is a simple snap in for the cable.

I have the same problem, but not sure how to remove the inside covering, don't want to break it. How did you do it? Where to start?

This is an old post but maybe it will help someone else. I ounces the cable is discontinued and all used one have same problem. The ends break but also the lining of the cable rots and doesn't allow for smooth movement. The length is 15 inches so I found a new one on Amazon for a Ford van and installed it works perfectly.
