Why do you want to replace that? It will break again and if i remember right your explorer has a lot of big problems (transmission and so on,)? Just life with it.

Transmission is fixed it was a broken servo and other little stuff is all fixed... the latch on the window was broken so I had to replace the bolts.. the trim was already cracked so has to be replaced anyways
.. I love the truck I had 2 02 before and now a 04... you just need to understand the transmission then you will be ok...

I’m assuming they only come ready for paint.

My factory original is still in good shape on my vehicle, but as far as I know they come ready to paint (as already suggested by Mbrooks420) and are available at Rockauto.com
You could spray can it black or something close to original.

Ok, yes i understand you. I have a '05 explorer, it is my first one. It is a great suv for very little money. I paid $1800 for it, running strong and it has had it's transmission alreday replaced. Bc the prices dropped a lot i am thining of getting another '05 with leather interior, service history and only 105k miles on it for $3500 (might be able to get him down to $3000). My explorer now has 195k miles on it.

Be warned that the SOHC engine can also have major problem, like the transmissions. If you get another make sure you hear it start stone cold, first start of the day.

These models tend to be cheap because they have issues.

Yeah i have a ticking noise on mine on a cold start. I was guessing rocker arms? Or what could that be? I let it idle for a minute and try do not rev it up above 2000 rpm until the engine is hot. I am planning to keep it 2-4 more years, and they are "good" for me bc they don't lose value.

The last person always had the truck serviced when anything happened right away but then the transmission had a flare so she just bought a 06 and sold my truck... I bought the truck because the motor had 90k miles and it had the timing all redone and the person loved the truck so much she was crying and hugging the truck lol... I like the style of the 02 to 05 better then the 06 and up... hopefully I am done with all major issues, for now....

V6 or V8?

Try eBay
You can find them painted and if you’re patient your color may come along.
