Rear hatch handle removal/replacement?

Rear hatch handle removal/replacement? I just picked up a '93 XLT and the rear handle doesn't appear to be working. The window won't latch and the handle turns without tension. How do I go about removing/replacing this handle? Is it possible to do without opening the hatch?

You need to pull the door panel, and it will be obvious from there what to do next

The linkage probably either popped off, or the plastic retaining clip broke. The clips are cheap ($3). They are packaged by Motormite in the Help packaging. Just compare the one you have to the one in the store. There are several types.
