the making of your own colored emblems thread presented me with a unique opportunity. i needed to get a new emblem so i went to the slavage yard and got the peice on the back door with the emblem for $5 so since i had 2 of them i decided to paint one to see what it looks like. lemme know what you think.

I think it looks sharp! I take it your emblem now has a red background as well?

thanks, actually i never could get the actual emblem out of its case so i think it'll look better blue instead of havin it be ALL red in the back.

I got cha. I see what you're saying on the red emblem background thing. I guess it could get kinda lost in all that red. But since you have two you have the luxury of trying it out.

Oh, by the way, you've started something painting that other piece. I just showed your pics to my co-worker, he says that his will be blue by tomorrow afternoon.;)

looks good, i kinda want a before though!
lol

I think he means a before and after pic?

Tarheel- what brand/type of paint did you use? Did you prime and sand? I would like to do this to my EX also.

i went to pep-boys and found the touch-up paint that matched my paint code on the door, in my case it was E4. the paint brand is plasti-kote, the store should have a book that matches up your paint. look at www.paintscratch.com for your code.

is that all you used was touch up paint... no sanding... no priming... no clear coat... just the touch up paint?

well i used 400 grit sand paper first, then cleaned it with xylene, after that i used 3 coats of sparay touch up paint and used 2 coats of clear coat. it wasnt hard just time consuming.

ok thank you... youve just done a job that, ive been waiting to do for a while now...:D

I did mine a month ago oxford white and it really does look a lot nicer than the black. I was going to change the color of my emblem but it actually looks nice now and goes with the white and blue license plate that we have here in my state. Anyway I encourage anyone to get rid of the black and color match it to your vehicle. It really does make it look a whole lot better back there. Its easy like Tarheel085 mentioned just time cosuming. But the results are worth it.
