rear hatch/ window lock

Hey-
I bought this thing with an aftermarket remote start, etc. Just noticed that the back hatch doesn't always lock. In fact, it may rarely lock- I tried a bunch of times, and only got it locked once.
My question is: How much of a pain is it to take the back hatch apart?
The knob on the hatch moves up and down (usually) when I hit the interior lock button, and also when I hit the remote button.
Anyone know anything?

Its not hard at all, its just a matter of prying the plastic panel away from the hatch.
