rear main seal

I have a 2012 explorer with the v-6 engine. The main rear seal appears to be leaking. Not a lot out there but the job looks fairly straight forward. Drop the tranny, remove old seal, and replace. I've not actually pulled a transmission before but cant image it being too difficult. Ford wants $1041 to do the job. Any suggestions or advise to the wise?

I've never done one on a FWD, but if the RWD is as big of a pain as I experienced, I can't imagine how much worse the FWD is. Personally, I would pay someone to do it, but I'd look for a small, local mechanic, rather than the dealer.
