Hey guys, I have a question for ya, is there a way i can make the rear leafs shorter... I want to move the rear shackle towards the front of the car, about 20cm (8inch), whats the easiest way? the upper level of the shackle is just bolt on, that part is easy, but the lower level of the shackle, the leaf is specially made to fit the shackle, is there anybody who has any suggestions? thanks

find a leaf pack off another truck thats shorter eye to eye..but why would you want to do this? what do you plan to gain from this?

Well, look at the picture below. the rear shackle is not allowing me to have a good climb clearance because is it will hit the ground..

but if i move it e.g. 6-7 inches towards the tire (left/inwards) then it will stay clear of the climb angle..

shorten your shackle and do a SOA. look up guys that have done the SOA, you can barely see thier shackles, it'll give you what your after.

just noticed your from stolkholm, home town of nick diaz!

You can't shorten the leaf spring because you will run the risk of reversing the shackle and permanently bending the leaf. If you really want to increase departure angle, revert back to stock/shorter shackles and get a set of leaf springs that has a greater arc (or get your current leaf springs re-arched). You can also try moving the axle back a few inches.

As for hitting the ground, we dont really worry about that - they're just shackles and can be replaced.

why not shorten the leaf spring? my idea was to move the shackle aswell, drill a new hole and move it so it has the same angle (the shackle, there will then be no risk for reverting..)

Ah ok, I misunderstood your original post then. Yeah as long as you move the shackle forward too (which will probably be difficult to do considering the amount of room you have to work with), then you'll be fine.

yea, i know but then heres my nr1 question.. where can i get a shorter leaf spring? the top one, the rest is fine lengthwise.. and by shorter lets say 15cm? 6inches?

anybody who makes these in the states or anywhere else?

If your modding anyway, just go all out and go 3 or 4-link w/Coilovers (you know you wanna)

As pointed out, the easiest way is to find a set of stock leaf springs from another vehicle that are shorter than your current set and is the same width.

you could probably get a spring shop to make you just the main leaf then combine it with the rest of your pack or try an s10, blazer, cherokee or YJ (maybe the fronts off and YJ)

and your totally right about nick diaz..i hight have had a bit of the captin in me while writting that post...RRRRR
