It depends on the efficiency & impedance of the tube. Most will be OK with the stock amp.
You can avoid some hassle if you get a Bazooka with a built-in amp--it won't cost that much more. [MHO: before you do ANYTHING else, determine WHY your stock sub blew so you can avoid the same scenario with a new unit.]

Well you should have no problem pushing a tube with the stock amp. Did you blow the speaker casue you pushed it to much or was it electrical? I know I'll catch crap for this but ... I hate things to be stock .. I have had my Exp Limited for 2 weeks and am already changing stuff. I have a ton of stereo equipment 4 x 15's 4 x 12''s 2 x 10's and about 10 amps laying around the garuage. So I was going to tupgrade the 8 with a Solo Baric 10. I took the wire feeds off the stock 8 and hooked them up to the 10 enclosure and it sounded great .. so I figured what the hell and pulled out a 15 Orion XTR and hooked it up. It sounds good! It doesn't slam like if I had hooked up one of my Orion HCCA amps to it, but hay it works . Any I don't have to wire anything. I'm not doing any compititions anymore so why bother. If I were you I'd hook the tube up to the stock amp and see if it's enough to make you happy. If your running stock front and rear speakers it should do the trick. If you need more power, buy a amp to push your tube. I would stay away with the powered tubes. If the amp goes then your sol. And they will. Not only that ,if you ever want to put somthing eles in the you'll have a amp.

Just my 2 cents

Brian how did u hook up the 15 Orion XTR what wires did u cut into to get your power i have 2 12's about 350 watt a piece and want to hook them up to my stock system but i have tryed everything and cant find anywere to get the power from?? i know t 12's might be too much for a stock system but i just want too see how it sounds before i add a aditional amp just to see if its worth it thatnks alot??

thanx for the replies. the speaker went out just from bieng pushed to hard im sure. it is about 10 years old the foam on the edge was breaking away ive decided not to go with the Tube but instead , budy at the radio shop got me a deal on a 6 1/2 kicker comp ta sub to fit right in there for 60 bucks i couldnt pass it up. sounds alot better thanx.

I used the wires off the old sub. Just use a torx head to take the stock sub out and disconect the wires from the stock sub and run them to what every your going to run. I'm not to sure about running 2 12's .. I think you might over heat that little amp. Be careful
