I own a 1993 ford explorer. About a month ago i spent 1400$ on repairs to the front end(brakes, rotors, upper and lower ball joints,u-joints, one stub axle, and one caliber.)
It started getting a bit of a wobble in the front end. so i took it back to the shop. a tire was separated. i took it to a different shop to get a new tire put on it(cheaper). approximately 15-20 mins later both my rear wheels were wobbling. I checked the lugnuts an they are all as tight as they should be. i shook the tires, and it had a real bad clunk. the exact sound a ball joint makes. it doesnt clunk while driving, but no matter how fast(or slow) i go i have a serious vibration. it was even shaking my sun visor... anyone have this problem with their explorer?

Could be loose wheel bearings, there is a set procedure on how to tighten them correctly, and it sounds like some of the work that was done before might not be up to the standard necessary for a proper, safe repair.

Don't keep driving it like that. I would go back to that last shop that did work on it. Something may be getting ready to fly off...

ok thanks. its pretty scary!

This. Seriously, I wouldn't even drive it to a shop. You could end up causing FAR more damage in costs than to have everything torqued down correctly.

Could the shop have caused damage trying to get at the rim? I had it where the spare is kept. It could help to say i took it to walmart. They don't even require their staff to be certified

Have you had those tires checked for separation? Considering one of the set failed already, is it possible the others weren't far behind the first one?

I was actually putting a fuel pressure regulator in today, so after that was done i jacked up the back end, and noticed my rear drivers side tire has separated at the core. it looks much worse than the one i took off. :(
