I want to hook up a rear view camera in my 97 Eddie w/Kenwood DDX7017, but there's a wire that's supposed to be hooked to the reverse lamp harness (I'm assuming this would go to the +12v wire for the backup lights). Does anyone know if there's a location to tap into this in the front of the vehicle, or do I have to run a wire back to the taillights to hook this up?

I cant say for sure on the 97, but my 94 has a switch on the side of the trans that I think can be used. The Neutral Safety Switch/Reverse Light Switch. Of course different year trucks also different trans, so this may not apply for you.

it should be in either the driver or passenger runningboard harness.

Thanks.

I've got it spliced in on the passenger side kickpanel, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be automatically switching to the camera when I put the tranny in reverse. I'm not sure if it isn't making good contact or if there's another issue. When I get the time I'll have to get in there with my meter and see what's happening.
