The mirror glass on our 2008 S/T is "dis-colored". Was that way when we bought it. Am looking for a replacement, to get rid of the "dis-colorization".

Am wondering if I'd be better off finding another mirror, -OR- having the glass mirror re-placed??

It has wiring to the back of it, I assume for the "dimming of the mirror". There's no programing a replacement mirror is there??

Opinions please.

Thanx !!!!!!!

This is the inside mirror right? Those mirrors are prone to de-lamination on the backside of the mirror so a replacement is probably best. The wires are probably for the dimming feature but depending on you trucks options it could also be for a mic. I don't think any reprogramming is needed to replace a mirror though. If you happen to replace the compass sensor though then I guess you might have to re-calibrate it but this isn't necessary to replace the mirror. But this is all just my opinion.
Good luck!

Thanx !!!! It isn't "bad, bad". it just bugs me.

Mine is a manual mirror that has the same issue. It has wires and a little box for the compass sensor attached the the support arm.

I have an auto-dimming one in the garage that I pulled from another explorer in a junkyard that's still in good shape that I'm going to install at some point. The mounts look the same and the donor had the same sensor to remove in order to get the mirror out. I think it cost me about $10.
