Ok, I give up..

Where do I refill the rear wash/wipe? The user manual states it near/on the rear passenger lamp cluster with a sort of snap/bung closure. But I can't find it, so assume I only refill the front one and a pump sends it to the rear???

Any help especially pics would be appreciated!

Well 1st off, IF you would like help you'll find more people willing to do so if you include atleast the basics.. ie, year, model, ect.. Now ASSUMING from what you have said about the stated location in the manual its most likely a 1st gen.(91-94), so that said open the tailgate n if memory serves correct you will see the "fill plug" above the driver side brake/tail lamp assembly.

My 98 uses just the one tank for front and rear.
The other night my fronts worked fine but the rear didn't work so i assume somewhere along the line it was frozen as next day it worked fine. ps i keep washer fluid in the car in the jack cubby in the boot so if i run out in this crappy weather i have some. I also carry a bottle with me when i'm drivin my hgv to.

very kind nudge in the ribs there FORDSUVGUY..

my UK, 2000 (Mk2) North Face, 4.0L SOHC metallic green truck hasn't got a filler cap above either the US drivers side lamp cluster or UK drivers side lamp cluster. Or either passenger side too.

I'm erring on the side of Jan, thinking it's a front-pump-fed affair?

Regards

Well yeah, that is correct there is only one tank on a 2000, but I did not know what year Explorer you have. My 1st post I believ was incorrect, model years (91-*96*) had two separate reservoirs. In "97" they went to a single tank up front. (at least on this side of the pond). :)

Hey there FORD SUV GUY
You wouldn't know this but in the uk we only got gen 2 96-01 explorers with the SOHC engine and auto box. The 96-97 had slight differences to 98 on but essentially they are mechanically the same. We did have a higher spec "northface" edition which had a few extras like heated seats but again essentially the same truck

So with this in mind here in the UK section it is not so important to list the year/model in the title or thread as a quick glance at the OP's info at the side usually has the year listed.

Interesting to note though that even as late as 2000 they were still cutting-and-pasting from the US user manual!

Cheers all, panic over.. And Jan, yep, have emergency washer bottle in exactly the same place...!

Your right I did not know that there are no 1st gen's in the U.K, so at that I apologize and respectfully bow out.

Still good practice to include basic information. IMO

My 97 has the tank in the back, with its own pump. Strangely, it holds more water than the front tank. In ten years, i've only filled it twice.

Ha ha. I never seem to use it much. Perhaps thats why Ford decided to plumb the rear screen into the front tank.

WANT ONE!!!

OMG how pitifully small is the front tank - even when it's only supplying the front screen!!

Seriously Kev, woudl it transplant into a later model? Do we all start hunting them down and increasing our currently woeful capacity?

Cheers!

I would think one would fit in mate, but it won't have the wiring loom there for the pump.
Kev.
