Ok I've gone through the FAQ for re-initializing the rear window motor and it's not moving an inch. This on on John's Trac and I'm sure he tried it as well when he was trying to get it to work - the old motor is still installed and the motor he purchased is plugged into the wire harness....I noticed some other wires on the drivers side coming out of the rear that I'm not sure what they are...any help would be appreciated....

This is the rear with the new motor hooked up...

These are the are the wires on back that I have no idea what they go to

You can see the wires in comparison to where the motor for the rear window goes...

I believe the wiring you're looking at is for the central security module (RAP). John posted a photo of it being mounted on the back panel on his Job 1 as opposed to behind the air bag on Job 2 and later year models.

John and I discussed the rear window problems but I don't recall the specifics of the diagnosis. That was before his last Truckhaven, I think it was. But he had the whole rear end out of it so the window wasn't the priority.

Does the rear window motor run at all? If the motor runs but no movement, those cable housings are bad to rust/break/bind the actual cable.

YE/LG should have 12v constant and BK/PK 12v with the switch on. All other wires are grounds that control the functions. Drivers door has to be open to initialize. Is the door ajar switch operating properly? Check the wiring diagram and see if there's any relationship between the security module and the window motor. I have to hit the road now but I'll check back this afternoon.

Well that module will be the first thing I have come across that's missing from all the parts I picked up with the truck, so I guess all in all not too bad...

As far as the motor goes - I don't get any sound from it at all. I've tried the re-initialzation process with the door open and nothing. The door chime does work when the door is open. As far as checking the wiring, that's nothing something I can do - I know squat about that kind of stuff. So I guess I'll just keep playing with it to see if maybe something is loose or undone etc....which I'm sure is stuff he would have checked already but you never know.

Does the rear window motor need to be completely installed for it operate? Or would I atleast hear something out of it if it was getting power even though it's not installed?

Maybe bolting the motor to the body provides it ground? just a thought..

Take a test light and be sure those two wires I mentioned are hot. If you have an ohm meter you can check continuity on the ground wires coming from the switch.

Why does it seem that everyone's rear window has decided not to cooperate this week?
