Didn't find too easily with the search so I wanted to drop this in. The cable assembly is ALL messed up in the regulator. You can hear crunching of the cable when trying to open/close the window. It doesn't do either really. I found out tonight I'll need to R/R the assembly. I'll try to document it here and add pic's (when the part comes in).
Do 6 year olds cause early failure of rear windows and leather seats? Probably...
Popping off the door skin:
Start at the bottom of the door pull handle with a screwdriver and pull off with by hand and remove 2 screws hidden behind it
At the bottom of the door rest with a screwdriver and pull off with by hand and remove 2 screws hidden behind it
At the bottom of the door skin, remove the black screw
Find 2 good spots to grab and PULL STRAIGHT UP
Squeeze the window switch harness and wiggle it out (mine was held to a retainer with elec tape so I removed it and reattached with wire tie)
Release the main power (green) from the grey harness
Leave the door pulley cable attached
Remove the 4 screws holding the speaker and disconnect cable harness
With a utility knife (better way anyone?) carefully pull away weather barrier (it's 40deg here so it may be easier in the summer)
Fiddle with cable and get the window to stay up.
At this point I realized I have to order the Window Regulator.
All went back on in reverse order wicked easy! I left the motor inoperable by not reconnecting the motor power (green wire/harness).
I'll be back when the part gets here.
