well the back wiper on my 01 sport has nevre been great, but its been good at cleaning most of the rear window. i decided to put on a 15 inch wiper a couple weeks back as the little ******* that was on there wasnt sufficient. so the 15 inch had a hard time fitting onto the arm, the little plastic clip didnt want to lock in place so i tugged on it a bit and got it to somewhat stay. i found it wasnt cleaning the passenger side half of the window so i assumed it was just not cleaning because it wasnt seated right. so i bought a 13 inch, which fit perfectly. but it was barely touching the driver side of the rear window. so i assumed i bent the arm a little, so ive bent it probably 20 or so times trying to find the sweet spot but i cant. if i bend it too far to put too much pressure on it it wont go onto the glass, gets stuck between the glass and the hatch. and anything less and it doesnt make contact. one thing i was worried about was that maybe i didnt straighten it but rather pulled it out of alignment or something where it hinges and attaches to the hatch. is it possible that ive done that, or should i replace the arm or keep messing with it or what?

The wiper arm can only travel so far towards the glass before a mechanical stop limits it's travel.Flip the arm away from the glass and you will see where the two metal pieces hit together to stop the travel.Grind or file(a dremel tool works great here)the stop to allow the travel to increase. The cause of this problem is that the bracketry that holds the wiper motor is weak and bends over time allowing the wiper shaft to exit the rear hatch at an angle thus causing the arm not to bend far enough to hit the glass with any force sufficient to press the blade against the glass.Thats why changing the arm and/or blade usually won't fix this problem.

yeah i did a search, popped up alot of stuff,i sifted through some but couldnt find what i needed. unrelated but how did you find that your upgrades affected your gas milage? i see 23 mpg which is good, im getting about 21 or so mostly hiway and 19 mixed driving in the summer. but id love to get more out of her

thumper thanks for the info, ill get into it today or tomorrow and see how it goes. the reliable exploder is starting to finally have its share of issues. been good the last 3 years and in the olast couple months the pass side actuator went, the driver side door latch needs replacing, the turn signal indicator went and now this, lol. gonna be the canal for it soon, lol

When my rear wiper actually worked..it didn't make contact w/ the glass so I bent the arm in and it worked perfect. Now it just doesn't turn on. :)

My gas mileage actually dropped slightly when I went to the 3 inch outlet Akimoto racing cone filter. That was in the summer and I suspect a result of pulling air from the warmer engine compartment. I'm in the process of modifying the stock air filter box for the 90mm MAF sensor and correcting my timing chain issues. When both are completed I'll do another 100 mile fuel economy test to see how my modified intake system and custom tune affect it.

Wow that is my prob to a T my cousins coat got caught on it when he owned the truck and since then it never went back I mean I spent about 6 hours on the thing all together and bent it EVERY WAY it could possiably be bent with no luck then it did what ericaautoparts did just stopped working (but thas the switch issue) I'm gunna try the adjusting thing...

i found them today, tomorrow its gonna be beer and grinder time, haha. the worst part is when i bought the truck the wiper switch was broken so the rear wiper would come on by itself randomly all the time.
