Now don't get mad at me thinking this is the same problem everyone else seems to be having where the wiper blade doesn't touch the whole window or whatever. I have a completely different problem and can't seem to find any info on it in my own research. Maybe it is out there and I stopped searching when I was one post away.... but anyways.
I was washing my '02 Eddie Bauer the other day, and I was moving the rear wiper away from the glass when suddenly... POP!!!
The spring stuff came off of the wiper arm. And now when I look at it I can't for the life of me figure out if one, I have all the pieces and two, how am I supposed to put it back together.
Do I need to just go and buy a whole new assembly? Or can I just do something with the springs that I have or buy a new set? The motor still works fine it's just the arm that is messed up....
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all help,
KSErules :)

Did the spring just pop off the wiper arm or did the eye loops for the spring or the spring itself break apart? If it broke, you can get a used spring for it from a junk yard off of another similar Explorer model. Same goes if you need the whole wiper arm. You would need a new wiper arm if the spring eye loops broke off. Nothing to connect the spring to if that happened.
The rear wiper arm connects to the motor shaft, and according to the Haynes Manual, there should be a "nut" that holds the rear wiper arm to the motor shaft under a cover plate. Make sure the wiper motor is in the "off or park" position prior to removing the wiper arm nut. Leave it in that position till done. The manual says to mark the position that the wiper arm is in to the motor shaft prior to removing the old wiper arm. Mark a line between the two. This is so you can align it properly when re-installing the wiper arm. After reading thru the manual further, here is where you run into a problem. The manual doesn't mention what-to-do if you are installing a "new or replacement" wiper arm. Just mentions how to remove the old one and re-install it. You can't mark the position of a new wiper arm since it wasn't on the car prior to removing the old one. Hopefully you can just line up the new one according to the marks you made on the old one you removed. Would have to do it by sight. Hope this helps you a little, never removed one myself to date. Just giving you info from the Haynes manual.

The eyes are in place and haven't broken. The problem is that I have two separate pieces that are supposed to be the springs or whatever that hold it into place but they seem to be too short. I have tried to go to junk yards locally but they don't have similar year explorers. And I'm pretty sure I remember asking AutoZone and them saying I would have to order the whole arm unless the dealer had the springs that I needed. So I'm not sure. Maybe I should just call around to the junk yards again because it's been a few months since I had checked for this. I figure it's gonna be getting to the rainy season soon here in Florida so I should probably get a jump on fixing that :P

Thank you for the super fast reply :)

Rear wiper springs

You have to remove the wipers assembly. Pull up plastic cover and remove the not holding the arm assembly. You may need a vice to hold the arm. Looking and the underneath side the C shaped wire goes around a small pin the you hook that to one end of the tension spring (the arm should be in straight position as if on the windshield that give let tension on the spring). Then pull the other end of the tension spring into the hole under the arm towards where the blade attaches.
