I've had my 94 xlt for two months now, slowly making things 100% on it. One thing that has never worked since I bought it is the rear wiper. Not only does it not move but makes no sound whatsoever when it's on. So I'm thinking it needs to be replaced. Has anyone done this before? Should I get a whole new back door? (rear defogger doesn't work either)

If both don't work I would be betting the wiring somewhere between the front and back is broken/cut. I would be looking at the wiring harness bundle that goes from the body to the door and work my way back from there.

A multi meter would be your friend here, if you have a local Harbor freight you can pick up a decent one for less then $5, and with electrical issues they are priceless to have.....

And as a point of interest, the HF's units seem to survive releasing the "magic smoke" from time to time, and 1/2 melting...so good stuff! (Don't ask how I know that)

Check the fuses for defroster and rear wiper, also look around the cargo compartment for the plugs to those devices. If neither is working it sounds like something isn't getting power.

Might want to make that the switches for them are plugged in as well. When you press the rear defroster does the LED in that switch come on?

The LED lights do come on for both. In the cargo compartment are the plugs located in the same spot as the 4X4 computer?

Ok I discovered yesterday that the rear window defogger DOES work and pretty good too. Had some serious frost on the rear window and it cleared it up just after a few minutes. Also the rear wiper fluid does flow out. But the rear wiper is no go. No sound from the wiper motor either. Is there an easy way to access it?
