I am trying to reattach my rearview mirror, I'm having trouble removing the silver metal piece that was glued to the windshield, anybody know what the trick is to taking this out??

Why would you want to take that piece off? Are you moving it?

Oh wait, are you saying that the silver piece is off the windshield and stuck in the main mirror piece? There is a set screw which secures it to the main mirror which needs to be loosened before it can come out.

Sorry about that,

Robb

is the screw on the top or bottom? I can't see it.

If it's like my 92, it doesn't have a set screw. You have to use a small flatblade (or something similar) and insert it into the slot between the metal mount and mirror. Push it in as far as possible and then slide the mount off. I can't remember if it was the top or bottom slot. When you insert the screwdriver, it pushes down on a tab inside the mirror mount. I've had to do this a couple times already and each time I forget exactly how to do it. Keep trying and you'll figure it out. It can be a pain!
Good luck!

Alright well i also have a problem like this but a little different. i actually superglued my rearview mirror to the mounting button on my windshield because i kept shaking it off with the bass from my system. the other day tho, i knocked off the entire mirror and the mounting button, and they are both glued together. i got some mounting glue from autozone specially made for rearview mirrors, but the only way to do it is to mount the button first, which i cant do because they are glued together. is there anyway to get superglue off ??? help i have no idea what to do!

you need to get a new mirror then, they don't cost much anyway.

You are in trouble Slick !!! Your best bet is to get a new mirror and button , but if ya wanna go down fighting , some times I have heard of heat ( flame ) breaking down the hold of crazy glue , but ofen at the expence of what ever is glued.

I have glued my mirror back on while the button is still attached to the mirror. Just hold mirror firmly in place for 2 minutes. It should stick OK. Just don't drive the vehicle or adjust the mirror for a few hours. I usually do it when I'm finished driving for the day.
