I know there is not going a real good answer to my question, but figured I would ask anyways.

What time of the year do rebates tend to change? I should be getting my ordered Explorer in mid December and wondered if I should expect/hope for the rebate to get better before then? I'm currently getting the $1000 rebate, $500 for my wife finishing grad school, and the $750 mailer.

Someone told me that rebates usually go up in December to help clear inventory. Plus with the 2012 being a shorter model year, do you think they will increase the rebate next month?

From what I've seen over the past year is that incentives, when they change, are usually done at the beginning of the month. Nobody can really forecast what incentives are planned in the coming months. I guess you are going to have to wait and see what, if anything, changes on December 1st.
You will also have to read the fine print to see what, if any, incentives can or cannot be combined.

I also have a question regarding rebates.

The dealer gave me a college student rebate because my live-in girlfriend attends college. She is not on the loan as i used my own financing. They had us submit to them a copy of her college schedule to show she was enrolled, and they had us submit proof of her living at my residence. We did both of those. 5 month later, I just received a letter from the dealership stating that Ford is doing a routine audit and that we need to supply the dealer with a copy of a college diploma or current class schedule.

Is this necessary?? Why do they need something again 5 months later? We supplied what was current at the time of the deal.

What if she didn't get a diploma or dropped out last week? She didn't. But what if, and what if we have nothing else to give them? Do I need to supply anything else? What if I don't supply anything additional.? The dealer has what we initially supplied at the time of the deal. Why can't the dealership resubmit that? Why do they need something current 5 months later?

My son is now in college (same name as mine). Can I submit HIS current college schedule.? Or not since it was my girlfriends that they based the rebate on?

Im not sure how they did that, when I do college grad rebates whoever the college grad is HAS to go first on the loan. That is the only way we can do it. If its been 5 months and you already have your explorer I honestly would just ignore it.

Yea, was just looking for peoples observations on what they've seen in years past. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they up the rebate to more than $1000. Appreciate the feedback.

The 2012 Is a short model year? Same thing when I bought my 2004 Escape ............ I must have a knack for buying un-cars that have production runs of a few months!

Yep, was confirmed by one of the Ford people that post here. Supposedly the 2013 will start showing up around March.
